BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ON Saturday (May 7) the public will be in for a treat when Carnival Village comes alive at 8:30 p.m. with the first ever Miss Mother’s Day Beauty Pageant.
According to Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Mother’s Day Queen Committee, Zack Nisbett, eight mothers would be contesting for the crown.
The contestants are 23-year-old Ijahnya Carty, Camille Romney (21), Joleen Mason (22), Rosetta Jarvis (31), Shamella Ephraim (24), Orelma Prentice (24), Ellia Jeffers (39) and 30-year-old Vincia Connor.
Nisbett said the mothers would compete in five segments - Mother and Child/Children, Talent, Beach Wear, Business Wear and Evening Wear.
He indicated that the purpose of the pageant is to highlight the mothers and the relationship they have with their children.
“The show is a means for mothers to display that true love and affection is important to family relationships to build a bond,” he stressed.
The PRO said this is a pageant that the committee hopes to continue in the coming years. He noted that they have been building the momentum and already many people are eager to see what the ladies have in store.
On the day of the pageant, there will be an expo at the same venue beginning at 5:00 p.m. with booths erected on the grounds with Mother’s Day gifts for sale.
The contestants have already made a number of public appearances which have been creating quite a buzz. They will also be featured on Monday (Apr. 25) at the Annual Basil Henderson 53rd Easter Monday Aquatic Sport Meet at the Ferry Terminal.
