ROAD TOWN, Tortola, British Virgin Islands - Minister for Education and Culture, Andrew Fahie, who is also responsible for youth affairs, made this revelation at the House of Assembly sitting held on Tuesday April 19, 2011.

“Mr. Speaker, the campaign will focus on safety measures such as wearing a helmet at all times, ensuring that the motorbikes are licensed and insured, obeying traffic signs, using indicators, no cutting through traffic and to always be keen of pedestrians and other motorists,” he stated.

He admitted that persons are taking the matter rather seriously following the tragic death of Tré Erickson who had resided in his district.

Speakers at the meetings will encompass different individuals of positive influence from the various communities charging the young people to be responsible, cautious and careful about their life and their safety.

“We anticipate having the father of the late Tré Erickson to be one of the guest speakers at the campaign,” Minister Fahie revealed.

He added, “Mr. Speaker we will not allow the enemy to conqueror our young people especially our young males. In addition to the aforementioned course of action, I also invite our churches to unite greater than ever and make their voices heard and actions felt greater than ever in the history of this Territory. Together we will defeat the enemy. Together we will steer our young people in the right path so that the future of this Territory can be secured.”
