ROADTOWN Tortola, BVI, April 26th 2011 - In an exclusive interview with VINO recently, Minister Fahie said the programme, which started earlier this year, was going “excellent” and more computers were being sourced for qualified residents of the 1stDistrict, which he has served for more than 11 years.

“I don’t have the exact figure but I know just under twenty,” the Minister said when asked about the amount of computers that were already given out.

“We are going to be doing some more of it very soon. Remember it’s a two year programme so everyone will get their laptop who does not have one,” the Honourable Fahie promised.

The first set of computers, four, was given out on February 12, 2011 during a district community fun day at the Capoon’s Bay Recreation Grounds on the western end of Tortola.

Asked about the total number of computers that may have to be acquired, the Minister did not reveal a figure but said projections were done through the district committee and himself.

The long serving 1st District Representative said the computers were being sourced both locally and abroad.

Honourable Fahie was first elected in 1999 and will be remembered as one of the youngest Ministers in Virgin Islands politics.  Mr. Fahie was also appointed the first Parliamentary Private Secretary to a Minister, and is the first Minister of the new Ministry of Education and Culture.
