ROAD TOWN, Tortola, BVI - Yesterday, Friday April 29, 2011, Delta Petroleum’s inaugural Bust Your Kite Promotion saw some 3000 kites distributed and several prizes being won through lucky dips as many gathered at the area adjacent to the cruiseship pier to enjoy the family oriented event sponsored by Delta Petroleum.

Many kids were seen either holding raised kites, trying to get their kites up or recovering those that may have fallen or burst. Many parents were kept busy trying to appease small ones, whose kites were damaged or couldn’t go up.

However, it was the lucky dip that brought together the largest crowd in one spot as children of all age group including toddlers, gathered to get a chance to win a prize.

The prizes were either educational or for exercising purposes and many won pencils, pens, sharpeners and other small prizes, while others were more lucky and won cash prizes and even the larger take of the Nintendo and Xbox and games.

Speaking to VINO towards the end of the event, Regional General Manager Bevis Slyvester said the event was awesome and was all about the family.

Mr. Sylvester said the promotion came to fruition from an idea he had. He noted that in the 21st century, it is not technology but rather ideas that rule and any companies are now buying ideas.

He thanked all those who made the event a success including his staff, the various principals of the primary schools that allowed Delta to share positive messages with the students and also to introduce the promotion. He also thanked Stones Jerk Stand, Jenny’s kitchen, Showtime Band, DJ Craig Lake, JTV and others who made it a success including the family and children who turned up.

“There are many parents and children here today and I am also happy to proud to see VINO here,” he stated yesterday.

Mr. Sylvester said Delta will be making the event an annual one but it will be held closer to the Easter holidays but not to conflict with either the Rotary or the Guyanese Association’s kite flying ventures.
