SKNIS Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, May 3rd 2011 (SKNIS) - “Education Pride” is the focus of activities organized for May 3 in the continuing observance of Education Week.

Open Day, Tag Day and the Promotion of an information brochure produced by the Ministry of Education are all taking place during the course of today.

The recognition by Education officials of individuals within the education system who have been outstanding in service delivery is also taking place.

Chairperson of the Education Week Planning Committee Quinton Morton told SKNIS that he was hopeful that persons in the Federation would take the opportunity to reflect on the successes of the Federation’s system of Education over the years. This would also include individuals who helped the sector to attain such a high level as well as the opportunities that are being created presently, as a result.

He emphasized that the week’s theme was “New Standards, New Opportunities and New Successes,” and called on persons to benefit from the ministry’s very progressive outlook.

The days’ activities will climax with an “Education Talent Showcase” at the Wesley Church Hall (Old Boys' School).

Key persons from the body of local educators will, as the event is dubbed, showcase talents that may not be evident during their day to day work life. The event is intended as a social gathering towards the building of camaraderie.

The week of activities runs from May 1 – 7.

Tomorrow’s event scheduled for Wednesday May 4th is A Fun Day at Warner Park Football Stadium from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
