ROAD TOWN, Tortola, BVI - The Premier was at the time addressing persons at a Town Hall meeting organised by Dr. Vincent Scatliffe on May 13, 2011 at Maria’s by the Sea.

“Let me tell you that when it comes to looking funds to do things in his district and to provide facilities and so on, he is a thorn in my flesh.  I try my best to accommodate him and all the other elected members of council.”

Dr. Scatliffe said lots of work was done in his district despite the economy being hit by financial troubles.

“There is something called priority as well and some things have to take a back seat and this is what has happened,” Dr. Scatliffe had previously said.

Meanwhile, Hon. O’Neal commended Dr. Scatliffe for his efforts to beautify the environs of Road Town. “I have always said Road Town is the Capital of the BVI and it must be looked at.”

Noting that he recently did a drive on Main Road from the hospital to the Bandstand to observe the efforts to beautify Road Town, the Premier said he was satisfied with what he saw except for one “sore eye”, which he said was an old building in the vicinity of Fort Charlotte Road.

He said he has had several discussions with the owners of the building but said he hoped Dr. Scatliffe would look into the matter.
