ROAD TOWN, Tortola, BVI - The businessman is facing deportation after he served four years for harbouring three murderers, who were wanted by the Police for the death of Jamaican national Dorcas Rhule in 2006. Ms. Rhule was thrown off a four storied building in October 2006.

Furthermore, in a highly publicised trial that ended on March 4, 2010, Mr. Alphonso was a free man after he was found not guilty for murdering, one of the fugitives – Christopher Bailey.

In light of this, there is public outcry to deport him after serving his prison sentence since he was born in Guyana.

The wheels were set in motion when former Governor David Pearey had served deportation papers to the local businessman, and when Governor McCleary took over, Mr. Alphonso’s legal team objected and took the matter to the High Court and the Court of Appeal claiming that the new Governor should not hear the appeal as he may be bias in determining the outcome.

The requests were turned down. He is represented by Stephen Daniels.

Now after listening to the character witnesses, Governor McCleary will have to make a decision on whether or not he will have to leave. VINO was unable to ascertain the date for the decision, but will continue to follow the story closely.

Mr. Alphonso, who is in his 40s, has lived practically all of his life on Tortola.
