The Sandy Point Benevolent Society’s inaugural Awards Banquet honors five distinguished Nationals of St. Kitts & Nevis

    New York City, New York, USA – May 23rd 2011 – The Sandy Point Benevolent Society proudly presents its first benefit Gala in New York City on Saturday, September 3rd 2011. This historic event will be held under She distinguished patronage of her excellence, Mrs. Jacinth Henry-Martin, St.Kitts and Nevis Ambassador to the USA. Ambassador Henry-Martin, herself a graduate of the Sandy Point High School, now the Charles E. Mills Secondary School (CEMSS) in St.Kitts, will be the recipient of the association’s distinguished Alumni Award.

     


    The 2011 SPBS benefit Gala will feature as its special guest speaker Dr. Allan C. Somersall, Kittitians – born scientist, State and Leeward Islands Scholar, medical doctor, professor and entrepreneur. Dr. Somersall, one of the five nationals of the federation to be honored on this auspicious occasion will receive the SPBS distinguished community service award for his global contributions to medicine.

     


    Also sharing the spotlight as banquet honorees will be the Rev. R. Joseph Manchester, the revered first principal of the Sandy Point High School (now the CEMSS; the charismatic Christian leader, pastor Judith Manning-Esdaille of the Mt. Carmel Pentecostal Church in the Bronx, and Founder of the host organization, Dr. Stewart Williams.

     


    The first Annual SPBS Awards Banquet promises to be a reunion of sorts with lots of Caribbean food and drinks, entertainment, fun, friends, teachers, classmates, celebration, networking and laughter. This inaugural even scheduled for 8:00 pm at the famous Eastwood Manor Banquet Hall located at 3371 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10469 promises to be “an evening of celebrating excellence, connecting and reconnecting.”

     


    The entertainment will be headlined by two well known Kittitian artists: the King Starshield and Richie Buntin.

     


    “Now, more than ever, the schools, teachers and students of the Sandy Point School District in St. Kitts are in need of our help and support,” stated Mr. Alrick V. Warner, SPBS Vice President. “SPBS is up to the challenge driven by our organization’s mission and vision. “ Empowerment through Education!” This inaugural benefit Gala will enable us to take our donations and contributions to another level.
