    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, June 1st 2011 - Caribbean and international businessmen, investors, buyers, manufacturers and service providers will converge on Port of Spain from 13-14 June 2011 to participate in the Caribbean Investment Forum 2011.

     


    The Forum, dubbed the Business and Networking Opportunity of the Year, will provide a unique opportunity for businesses and government to learn from more than 100 speakers and panellists including Heads of Government, Ministers of Finance, Trade and Development, Chairmen and Chief Executives of business and other industry leaders.

     


    Participants will discover new investment opportunities in the Caribbean and explore trade, investment and partnership opportunities. The Forum will address emerging market trends and the economic challenges facing the Caribbean; and will take a sectoral approach in identifying new opportunities and strategies in key sectors.

     


    In a message announcing that the Government of Trinidad and Tobago would host the Forum, the Rt Hon Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, stated that the 2011 Forum would provide an ideal platform to develop new trade and business relationships in key economic sectors in the region.

     


    She further noted that the Forum would build on the outcomes of the CommonwealthBusiness Forum, held in Trinidad and Tobago in November 2009, which provided a goodopportunity to develop the natural position of the region as a facilitator for linkages betweenCommonwealth and American countries.

     


    The Government of Trinidad and Tobago will host the Forum in partnership with theCommonwealth Business Council (CBC). The CBC promotes best practices betweengovernments and business around key economic drivers – FDI, trade, and sectors such asenergy, resources, manufacturing, agro-industry, tourism and financial services.

     


    It was set up by Commonwealth Heads of Government in 1997 and has direct access to all54 member governments of the Commonwealth. CBC reports to Heads at their summitmeeting every two years. A not-for-profit company, it is financed and managed by theprivate sector. The CBC board is composed of global business leaders from 12 countries.
