The People's Action Movement (PAM) continues to reveal its devious character. The latest manifestation of its true nature was highlighted in the lead story of the Democrat newspaper a couple of weekends ago, captured: "Denzil Douglas the richest man in St. Kitts."

The article was propped up with some images of properties and, from our own investigations, included a house on Lazack Road that is well known to be the PAM misleaders and mischief makers at the Democrat to be the property of the local football association, who we understand, bought it from a prominent business man on the island.

But as we stated before, lying and misleading the public are all part and parcel of the colure and upbringing of PAM.

It was rather interesting, however, to overhear a PAM supporter from the Cayon area commenting on the article and the publication of the photographs, when he opened the paper and declared: "What foolishness is they, Eugene Hamilton house far bigger than these. It is the biggest house a politician in this country ever owned..."

But, we have seen this ploy by PAM being used over and over again. And you will recall in the lead up to the 1980 General Elections, how PAM employed that same strategy on the late Fitzroy Bryant and other Labour Leaders, in order to help PAM to highjack the government from Labour.

They spoke about "Lee Moor's big house", "Charlie Mills' big house", "St. John Payne's big house" and "the luxury cars" and "mass wealth" they falsely alleged that the Labour Leaders had acquired from being Ministers of Government, as they are now maliciously claiming against the Prime Minister and his Ministers.

To them the trick worked for PAM in the 1980 Elections and so they have resorted to an old game plan.

The aim then, as now, was to poison the minds of the citizens against Labour and its leadership.

Is something wrong with Dr. Douglas prudently investing in this country of his birth? A resounding no?

The truth is that long before venturing into politics, Dr. Douglas ran a very successful medical practice and as a young professional, who had prevailed against trying odds, began to legally acquire wealth in the country of his birth and to encourage others to follow suit.

Indeed, since taking the reins of leadership in this country, Dr. Douglas and the Labour Party have espoused and practiced people empowerment and created an environment in which the ordinary man and woman would succeed, socially and economically. This is Labour's forte.

The growing ownership patterns of the housing stock in this country is testimony to the success of the Labour Party polices.

The rural landscape has evolved into urbanized communities and economic power given to the people.

Ask Damian, Lindsay Grant and others who have thrived as a result of Douglas and Labour's vision.

This is a far cry for St. Kitts and Nevis under Kennedy Simmonds and PAM. For then, a despotic leadership feathered its own nest and that of its sponsors - the plantocracy class - whilst giving the people "chicken wire" houses which were hazardous. (You could have gotten electrocuted by leaning on the walls).

The leadership spited communities which were close to Labour and left them undeveloped and which at the end of its stewardship, left St. Kitts-Nevis branded as "Devils' Island."

Throughout its 75 years in existence the Labour Party has championed the cause of the downtrodden and lifted them up - through it's far reaching social and economic action. Health care was given number one priority and the trash houses gave way to concrete and modern houses.

Our women folk - from all strata - have been empowered as never before, and they lead in all the social-economic sectors in this country.

The doctors and lawyers in our midst are our own.

Labour has shown how hearts and minds are one.

It is through the installation of pride and self esteem. It is about making people walk tall with pride.

It is through positioning this venerable country as a destination of choice, for direct foreign investment inflows and job seekers, throughout the region.

Dr. Douglas and the Labour Party will continue to &&.they way. Its philosophy of enablement, through property ownership, a comprehensive education system, strategic alliances within the regional and international community and prudent and transparent governance, have been the foundation stone of the Labour Party.

Like Robert Bradshaw and the other Labour leaders before him, Dr. Douglas' vision is grounded in the people and for the people, n keeping with the motto of the Party "For the good that we can do."

As the country transforms into a services-based economy, led by tourism, financial services, information technology, we say to you to follow the leadership and architect of this new socio-economic order.

So we say to all, invest in the opportunities which abound in this country; buy and or build your properties; seek ownership of a piece of the rock; educate your children and yourself and emancipate yourself from PAM. And, embrace enablement with Labour.
