It is really true that when a fish stinks, it stinks from the head.
Earlier this month, the Prime Minister, Dr. Denzil Douglas, sorely exposed himself to the entire Nation as a ‘stranger to the truth’. Last weekend it was Asim Martin who portrayed himself as also being a ‘stranger to the truth’.
After 14 years of neglect and mistreatment by the Sleeping Minister Dr. Earl Asim Martin, we the youths of East Basseterre have stood up and declared “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”! We are rallying full force behind a true champion of the People, Mr. Glenroy ‘Fresh Face’ Blanchette. ‘Fresh Face’ is a born and bred Newtowner who has dedicated his entire life to enhancing the quality of life of his fellow constituents, and a Family man who is devoted to restoring the core family values which the Community direly needs to return to at this critical time. Moreover, ‘Fresh Face’ is a leader who is especially committed to integrity, accessibility, transparency and accountability – all values which are greatly lacking in Dr. Martin.
On Saturday last, the youths of East Basseterre held a highly successful Meet & Greet Party at which youths from the Community came out in their overwhelming numbers despite inclement weather and were able to speak firsthand with Mr. Blanchette and learn why we need FRESH ideas, FRESH Leadership and FRESH FACE BLANCHETTE in Constituency Number 1.
It appears that the efforts of the young people of East Basseterre have somehow concerned, frightened and shaken Asim Martin to his core and forced him to open his eyes to the truth that his demise is drawing very ever near. On Sunday 19th, Minister Martin only helped to accelerate this demise when he got up on a platform at a public meeting at Wigley Avenue.
Rather than taking the opportunity to specifically address the young people of Constituency No. 1 and outline plans and ideas to elevate our standard of living and to provide us with even a glimmer of hope at this dismal time, Minister Martin instead attempted to ridicule the youth for shining a light on the grave need for a strong, efficient Representative for the people of East Basseterre.
Poor Asim Martin tried to boost his own self-esteem and his few supporters’ confidence in the sureness of his re-election by declaring on the platform that there are only three young people behind Mr. Glenroy ‘Fresh Face’ Blanchette in East Basseterre who do not know what they are doing.
Sadly, Dr. Martin, like Dr. Douglas, is nothing but a “stranger to the truth”.
It appears, Minister Martin, that all your time spent away from the People – in which you never show your face on the streets among your Constituents but only zoom past us with your tinted windows rolled right up – has only served to make you desperately out of touch with reality and the truth, and out of touch with the needs and concerns of the people you are supposed to represent.
The truth, Minister Martin, is that it is time for you to wake up and feel the strong winds of CHANGE about to blow you right out of office. We are tired of your spitefulness and bitterness, deception and manipulation of the facts. And taking public potshots at a wide cross-section of vibrant and intelligent young people who you expect to vote for you does not do you any favours. We deserve better. We need the positive change which Glenroy Blanchette will bring.
Minister Martin, the truth is it is now time for you and the other Labour Misleaders to pack your bags and make way for a new PAM Administration that is READY TO SERVE and PREPARED TO GOVERN.
The youths and the People of East Basseterre have had enough. The only vote that you will get from us in the upcoming Elections is a vote of NO CONFIDENCE.
