, St. Kitts, 11th October, 2006 One way to ensure the sustainability of the tourism industry is to demonstrate to our young people the various opportunities within. The Ministry of Tourism, Education and Maurice Widdowson of Island Hopper, worked together to give over 150 students the chance to experience what it is like working in various areas of the industry.

Thirty-seven businesses answered the call to expose our teenagers, ranging from: the airlines to the hotels, media houses, NGOs, travel agents, government institutions, retail outlets, tour operators and more.  Exactly,172 students were attached to these businesses for one day, on Tuesday 10th October, as part of  the tourism week of activities.  The main aim of this pursuit was for the youths to understand the requirements needed to aspire to top jobs and reap satisfactory rewards.

" This activity was well received by the students, as they asked for it to occur each semester or yearly," said Unoma Allen, Corporate Communications Manager, St. Kitts Tourism Authority.

~~Adz:Right~~Tourism Week 2006 continues with the: marine protected areas workshop, finals of the Juicy Primary School Quiz competition on Thursday evening, the local Food Symposium also on Thursday at the St. Johnston's Community Centre starting at 9:00am, the Tourism Market Place at the Independence  Square and the Awards Banquet at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on Saturday evening.
