~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, 25TH OCTOBER, 2006 - The future Ministers of Tourism all gathered to debate the issues relevant to the tourism industry in the Caribbean.
They were 16 high school students between the ages of 14 and 17 who represented their respective countries as Junior Ministers of Tourism' at the Sixth Annual Tourism Youth Congress; as part of the 29th Caribbean Tourism Organisation Conference.
Yarani Morton, is the 2005 winner of the local Youth Congress and won the right to be labelled the Junior Minister of Tourism, St. Kitts.
Dressed in formal work attire, in a setting that resembled Cabinet proceedings, the teenagers spoke on the subjects given to them.

Yarani Morton with her fellow Junior Ministers | This year, they debated "Culinary Tourism " Where Food is the Attraction," and "Incorporating the Music and Entertainment Industry as an Integral Part of the Tourism Product."
The "Junior Ministers" also debated a "mystery question" through which they were challenged to recommend one key area to strengthen the tourism sector in their countries.
Attending the Congress was Abdullah Skerritt, E-Business Manager at the St. Kitts Tourism Authority.
In summarising the performance of the St. Kitts representative, he said, "Yarani Morton, did a terrific job representing us.
Yarani commanded an encouraging response from the crowd in every area, but the judges had an extremely difficult task and preferred to rule as follows: First place " Bermuda, Second place " Anguilla, Third place " Antigua."
The St. Kitts Tourism Authority's main mandate is to promote the destination in the island's major visitor markets and endeavours to introduce the youth to the industry through events such as this.
