    Mrs. Doris Richards on her birthday
    CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (November 09, 2006) --
    As part of the Nevis Island Administration's (NIA) initiative to honour the island's senior citizens, Deputy Premier the Hon. Hensley Daniel on behalf of the NIA and the area representative for the St. Pauls Constituency the Hon. Robelto Hector, presented Mrs. Doris Richards with a fruit basket and flowers at her residence at the Flambouyant Nursing Home in Charlestown, in celebration of her 95th birthday on Thursday.
     
    During the brief presentation also witnessed by the Honourable Carlisle Powell, Health Advisor Mrs Patricia Hanley, her grand son Mr. Lester "Abba" Richards and close friend Mrs Lornette Manners, Mr Daniel congratulated Mrs Richards.
     
    "We are here to celebrate with Mrs Richards 95 glorious years&On behalf of the Premier and other ministers of Government,  congratulations on reaching 95 years and I hope that all of us can reach 95 years& we expect to be back herein five years to mark the 100th birthday so please wait for us," he said.
     
    Meantime, in brief remarks, Mr. Hector also congratulated his constituent and recollected his memorable years growing up with her as a child.
     
    Birthday girl Mrs. Doris Richards of Stoneygrove tickles the funny bone of (L-R) Hon. Hensley Daniel, Grandson Lester "Abba" Richards and the Hon. Robelto Hector while she is being showered with flowers and fruits in celebration of her 95 birthday.
    "As the representative of Charlestown, I am happy to be here this morning to say happy birthday to Mrs Richards. More than that, Mrs Richards you are an elder in the community of Stoneygrove/Government Road. I recall fond memories of the black pudding and the cake.
     
    "Mrs Richards' place was a place that when ever you visited, you would get something to eat.  So as a child you knew that was a place where you would always go. I want to say happy birthday to you, I want to wish you many more. As an elder you are like a grand mother to me. The entire family, I know, they share with you at this time and I know they are all proud of you. When we spoke last you told me how proud you were of your grand son who is now in Sixth Form. I am happy for you and I know you are happy for me to .I congratulate you and I wish you well and I wish you many more," he said.
     
    Mrs Richards surrounded by Ministers in the Nevis Island Administration, family and friends on her 95th birthday.
    In response to here gifts, Mrs Richards gave God thanks. "I thank God for today and for where I am he has done great things for me and therefore I am glad and I can say praise the Lord," she said and later entertained those present with a rendition of a gospel song "Onward Christian Soldiers".
     
    Her grandson Abba took the opportunity to present her with a birthday cake which she had planned to share with her fellow residents at the Home.
