Scotiabank customers in St. Kitts and Nevis will be the first of Scotiabank's Eastern Caribbean customers to enjoy the ultimate in convenience and shopping power with the launch of the new ScotiaCard on December 2, 2006.

The new card combines the power of a Visa debit card with all existing ScotiaCard features. It also allows customers to shop wherever Visa is accepted with funds being instantly deducted from their primary bank account. This means that customers can enjoy access to more than 14 million merchants worldwide without carrying cash. The ScotiaCard card can even be used to shop online or order goods by telephone at designated e-commerce and mail order/telephone order merchants. This new functionality is in addition to the existing ability of customers to access funds in their bank accounts at ATMs worldwide and at Scotiabank branches at home.

"This is an important enhancement for our customers and part of our continued commitment to remain a leader by making banking more convenient in every way," said Scotiabank Country Head Dimitrios Adamopoulos. "Now a ScotiaCard in your wallet really means more buying power."

In order to make the distribution of the new cards as convenient as possible for customers, Scotiabank is opening its doors on specially-designated Saturdays called ScotiaCard Day. Customers are invited to visit their primary branch on ScotiaCard Day to exchange their cards.

The upgrade is free of cost.

All branches will be open for ScotiaCard Day on Saturday, December 2nd from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The Basseterre branch will also be open for card replacement on December 9th from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. To help celebrate this special launch, customers will have the chance to win several cash prizes of EC$500 just by replacing their old ScotiaCard at their branch on ScotiaCard Day.

Scotiabank wishes to urge all customers to bring two pieces of identification and their old ScotiaCards.
