(Basseterre; St.Kitts): TDC Group of Companies through the Department of Physical Planning and the Environment and in connection with Harris Paints Dominica has undertaken yet another project.

The project is to replace old street signs with new ones and was launched on Friday, December 1 with a small ceremony at Ponds Pasture, near the Tucker Clarke Primary School.

A number of TDC officials were present along with Oaklyn Peets, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Works, Utilities, Transport and Posts.  Also present were members of the New Town football club, police officials from the traffic department, teachers and a few students of the Tucker Clarke Primary.

Noah Mills, Marketing Manager of TDC, said that there would be a total number of thirty streets and sixty signs all together in Ponds Pasture and Sandy Point.

He said that these areas were chosen because they are routes to TDC outlets. The project was funded with over EC$15, 000 which includes all materials Mills said.

Roslyn Sorhaindo, the Regional Sale Representative for Harris Paints out of Dominica said that this was not the first time Harris Paints has undertaking such events with TDC.

She said that they are also working on a number of programmes for 2007 including a Tree-planting programme.

Sorhaindo said that as long as they continue to get the support from the people of St. Kitts/Nevis they will keep giving back to the Federation.  She also said that this was a great project because sometimes she is driving and don't know what street she is on so the signs will be helpful in that area.

Peets commended TDC for being so active in the community.  He said that this exercise has provided historical clues and reflects certain individuals who have done good or been active in their communities.

He added that the project is a testimony of a committed group and the Ministry applauds the effort and shows profound appreciation to TDC.

The Tucker Clarke Primary School teacher along with the traffic police official both expressed appreciation and said the awareness of the signs will help not only residents but visitors to find there destinations much more easily.
