(Basseterre; St. Kitts): Tessa Lee of Taylor's Range, Basseterre, said recently that she is feeling better after she was physically abused by her former boyfriend.
Lee's boyfriend James Ham confronted her when she was at a friend's home on Wednesday Dec. 6, where he stabbed her on several parts of her body including in her left eye.
"It sometimes bothers my vision," she said yesterday, Wednesday Dec. 13, one week after the incident. "But I can see well enough out of it."
Lee said that she will not change her mind from carrying through with the charges as she says Ham has to pay for what he has done to her.
"I will not forgive him this time for what he has done to me," she said. "I did in the past but this time it' worst than ever and I plan to take the case further and make him pay for what he has done."~~Adz:Right~~
When asked why she had stayed with him in the past thus receiving countless abusive attacks, she responded by saying that "she loved him."
Lee also said that she confronted Ham at his home after the incident.
'I went to his house and asked him why he did this to me..." he said. "And his reply was that he lost his temper and he is sorry for what he did."
She continued: "I still like him a lot but I'm not going back with him, I would talk to him but that's all."
Lee said that she would advise anyone who may be in the situation she was in to not get caught-up.
"Because for a man to beat any woman in this way it's not good and it's better to let him go his way if both of you cannot agree," she said. "Because that's exactly what happened to me and I could have lost my life."
Ham was recently apprehended by police for a different charge and is currently in custody.
