    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JANUARY 1ST 2007 (CUOPM)  St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas in his New Years Message has called on Kittitians and Nevisians to put aside petty differences and let work together to carry the twin-island Federation forward.

     

    "There is much that we can achieve in working together. We need as a people to improve our productivity and to adopt a quest for excellence so as to ensure that St. Kitts and Nevis becomes a highly competitive country," said Dr. Douglas.

     

    He said his St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Government would continue to do all in its power to assist in the growth of and development of small and medium-sized businesses and to provide employment to school-leavers who must be moulded to take their rightful place in carrying the country of forward.

     

    "I therefore call upon parents, teachers, the church and the community as a whole to ensure that proper values and training are passed to our young people so that they grow up as disciplined, law-abiding young men and women," said Dr. Douglas.

     

    The St. Kitts and Nevis leader said 2007 is going to be a turning-point in the twin-island Federation "as we unfold our transformation strategies and grasp every available opportunity to push our country forward."

    2007 event. Let us all endeavour to put the finishing touches on the beautification of our towns and villages. Be sure to be kind and helpful to all our visitors and ensure that the international exposure of St. Kitts and

     

    Nevis will resound to the growth and development of our nation. In other words, lets get ready, finally, to welcome the world.

     

    Dr. Douglas noted that the dawn of a new year is a time for both reflection and projection. In reflecting on the past year, 2006, he said it must be agreed that it was a period of significant developments at the domestic and regional levels.
