    BASSETERRE
, ST. KITTS (JANUARY 8, 2007) - Digicel, the fastest growing mobile telecommunications provider in the Caribbean, launched a Digicel Caribbean Cup promotion today. The main prize of the promotion is a pair of tickets to witness the grand finale of the 2006/7 Digicel Caribbean Cup on January 23rd, in the twin-island nation of Trinidad & Tobago.

The 2006/7 tournament represents the largest ever Caribbean Football Tournament to be held in the region, with more International games playing in more islands and with more teams than ever before. The tournament which started September 2, 2006 saw a revised format of 10 preliminary qualifying groups and an eight-team final round which means there will be a total of 73 competitive matches played in this years' tournament when compared to 52 in 2004/5.

In keeping with its commitment to the continued growth of football in the region, Donovan White - Market Manager, Digicel St. Kitts & Nevis says, "Digicel has substantially increased its investment in the tournament to allow for an expanded tournament that will allow the best talent in the region to be playing high level competition for a longer period."

"Digicel's increased investment also means the teams can look forward to a substantial increase in prize monies; the Digicel Caribbean Cup Champions for 2006/7 are to net the largest prize package ever of US$120,000, with US$70,000, US$50,000 and US$30,000 going to second, third and fourth places respectively," White continued.

Locally, the St. Kitts and Nevis senior footballers were unfortunate not to have qualified for the second phase of the tournament, just missing out in their qualifying round played in Antigua, having lost 0-1 to the host Country in a do or die game on September 24, 2006; however, Digicel St. Kitts & Nevis is making it possible for one lucky person and their companion to journey to Trinidad & Tobago to witness the finals at the Hasley Crawford Stadium in that Country.

According to Digicel Marketing Executive Lesley Warner, the promotion will run from January 8th until the 19th and other prizes are at stake besides the tickets to the Digicel Caribbean Cup finals. "During the promotion period, every time a customer purchases a Motorola handset, that customer will be automatically entered in the draw to win the coveted tickets to Trinidad as the first prize; the second prize winner will get a free Motorola handset with $1,000 credit and a party invitation for 20 of their friends to watch the Finals at a close circuit venue and; a third place winner will receive a Motorola handset with $500 credit and a signed jersey from the winning team," Warner remarked.

Warner also disclosed that the draw will take place on Saturday January 20th, 2007 at a close circuit venue to be announced at a later date.
