(Charlestown; Nevis): "The traffic department is appealing to motorists to drive carefully.  Do not exceed the speed limit, do not drive too close behind or tailgate another vehicle.  Make sure that your brake lights are in good working condition and ensure that your vehicle is licensed and insured.  Ensure that your vehicles are in good working condition."

This appeal was made by Corporal James Hazel of the Charlestown Police Corps after what would be the sixth reported traffic accident for the newly-begun year.

On Monday, Jan. 8, three vehicles sustained damage after an omnibus abruptly stopped to pick up a passenger causing the two vehicles behind it to collide and subsequently crash into the public transportation vehicle.

The traffic accident occurred along the Island Main Road in the vicinity of Horsford's at about 12:00 p.m. involving motor car PA 5811 owned and driven by Raynice Salters of Clay Ghaut, motor pick-up P 2464 owned by NEVLEC and driven by Cardilous Walters also of Clay Ghaut and motor omnibus H7640 owned and driven by Jefton Douglas of Hardtimes.~~adz:Right~~

Police reports indicate that the motor omnibus H7640 was in front of the pickup P2464. After the bus stopped to pick up someone, the driver of the pickup stopped behind the bus and while stationary, the car collided to the rear of the pickup P2464 pushing it to the rear of the bus H7640.

While no one suffered any injuries all three vehicles were significantly damaged.
