    At approximately 03:30 a.m. on 15th January 2007, officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis responded to report in the Frigate Bay area. There officers discovered motor car P6499 in a parked position with a female later identified as Judith Tota of Newtown sitting in the drivers seat leaning motionless against the door frame. The District Medical Officers visited the scene and pronounced her dead. There were no signs of external injuries and investigations are continuing into the report. A post mortem will be carried out shortly.

     

     
    At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Friday 12th January 2007, officers of the Police and Defence Force responded to a report of gunshots being fired in the Bayfords area of St. Peters. Investigations revealed that brothers Darren Shane Berry and Dion Berry of Keys Village were fired upon by gunmen, resulting in the death of Darren and the wounding of Dion. Two persons are presently assisting the police with the investigation of this incident as investigations are ongoing. A post mortem will be carried out shortly..~~adz:Right~~

     

     
    On Friday 12th January 2006, a fatal traffic accident occurred on the Frigate Bay Road involving motor jeep P6173 owned and driven by Clive Hanley of Boyds and pedestrian Raphael Richardson (78 years) of Ottleys Village. Circumstances were that while process of crossing the road, the pedestrian by the vehicle and he died at the scene. Investigations are still ongoing into the circumstances surrounding this incident. A post mortem will be carried out shortly.

     

     

     

    On Sunday 14th January 2007, a traffic accident occurred along the island main road in the vicinity of Holland Ghaut in involving motor car PA5801 owned and driven by Julio Williams of Cabbage Tree, Cayon. Circumstances are that the vehicle was traveling to Basseterre when a sheep ran across the road and in attempting to avoid striking the animal, the vehicle overturned on the side of the road. The driver was taken to J.N.F Hospital for treatment.

     

     

     

    .~~adz:Left~~ The following persons were charged with offences between 12th and 14th January 2007;

     

     

     

    ·         A fifteen-year-old male of the New Road Housing area, was charged with the offence of House Breaking and Larceny committed on 9th October 2006 at New Road Housing Development.

     

     

     

    ·         Tristan Frederick of Lower Monkey Hill was charged with the offence of "Rape" committed on 12th January 2007 at Upper Thibou Avenue.

     

     

     

     On 11th January 2006, Jacqueline Richards of Irish Town, Basseterre was charged with the offences of "Wounding" and "Being armed with an offensive weapon" to wit a knife committed at Taylor's on the aforementioned date. She was subsequently bailed in the sum of $5000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court.

     

     

     

     The following persons were convicted at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Friday 12th January 2007.

     

    ·         Evan Daniel of Parsons Village who was charged with the offence of "Carrying abroad an offensive weapon" committed on 2nd January 2007 was convicted and sentenced to serve fourteen (14) days imprisonment with hard labour.

     

     

     

    ·         Edmond Johnson alias "Ben-up" of Lower Cayon Village who was charged with the offence of "Larceny" was convicted and fined $500.00 to be paid in one (1) month or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment with hard labour.

     

     

     

    ·         On 12th January 2007, at the Sandy Point Magistrate Court, Calvin Samuel of Belle Vue Village who was charged with the offence of "Carrying abroad an offensive weapon" was convicted and fined $750.00 to be paid in one (1) month or in default to serve three (3) months imprisonment with hard labour. For the offence of "Indecent Assault" he was convicted and fined $750.00 to be paid in one (1) month or in default to serve three (3) months imprisonment with hard labour. For the offence of "Battery on a police officer" he was convicted and sentenced to serve three (3) months imprisonment with hard labour..~~adz:Right~~

     

     

     

    ·         On 12th January 2007, at the Sandy Point Magistrate Court, Crispen Carey of Tabernacle who was charged with the offence of "Carrying abroad an offensive weapon" was convicted and cautioned.
