On Wednesday 17th January 2007, Forensic Pathologist Dr. Stephen Jones performed a post mortem on the body of the late Darren Berry formerly of KeysVillage. Dr. Jones certified that death was due to gunshot injuries to the chest and abdomen with haemorrhage and shock.
On Wednesday 17th January 2007, Justin Bass (21 years) and Lumumba Matthew (23 years) of JohnEnglandVillage were both charged with the "Murder" of Daren Berry of KeysVillage committed on 12th January 2007 at Bayfords.~~adz:Right~~
Both men were also charged with the "Attempted Murder" of Dion Berry of KeysVillage committed on 12th January 2007 at Bayfords.
The following persons were also arrested on 17th January 2006;
·Anthony "Munzel" Phillip of Stapleton Village was charged with the offence of "House Breaking and Larceny" committed on 29th November 2006.
·Philmore Matthew of ParryVillage was charged with the offence of "Indecent Assault" committed on 15th January 2007.
At the Sandy Point Magistrate Court on 16th January 2007, Clarissa Gumbs of Dieppe Bay who was charged with the offence of "Larceny in a Dwelling House", was committed to stand trial at the May 2007 Criminal Assizes. She was also bailed in the sum of $10,000.00 to appear at the said court on the aforementioned date.~~adz:Right~~
At the High Court on 17th January 2007, the trial of the DPP vs Lenford Gumbs of Walwyn Avenue, Basseterre who was charged with the offence of "Attempted Murder" concluded. The jury deliberated and returned a verdict of guilty on a lesser offence of "Wounding with Intent". He was subsequently remanded to Her Majesty's Prison pending a sentencing hearing on 23rd January 2007. The offence was committed on 16th July 2005 at Cardin Avenue, Basseterre.
