BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (JANUARY 31, 2007) - As part of activities slated for Diplomatic Week 2007 to begin on Sunday, 17 February 2007, Dr. Vaughan A. Lewis (PhD), a Professor of International Relations at the UWI Graduate Institute of International Relations, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago will be expounding on the topic "Caribbean Perspectives in International Relations: The Turn of the 21st Century".

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris has remarked that he is honored that Dr. Lewis has so promptly and eagerly agreed to deliver the distinguished Lecture.  "The topic is quite appropriate as we seek to maximize opportunities and rise to the challenges of the Twenty-first Century.

Dr. Lewis would help us to gain a perspective on the role of small states in the global scheme of things and will articulate strategic responses to the geopolitical issues that are affecting the region.  ~~adz:Right~~

This is in line with the main objective of the Diplomatic Week as the Ministry seeks to outline policy and diplomatic initiatives aimed at navigating this geopolitical environment to bring dividends to our nation".

The Lecture will be held at the University Centre in Basseterre on Thursday 22nd February at 7:30 pm.
