    On 31st January 2007, the following persons were charged with the following offences;

     

    ·         Michelle Herbert of Upper Market Street and Recia Caines of Cunningham Street, Basseterre were charged with the offence of "Larceny" committed on 31st January 2007 at Lynn's Fashion Store, Central Street, Basseterre.

     

     

     

    ·         Glendon Fordyce Jr of Cotton Ground, Nevis was charged with the offence of "Wounding" committed on 21st January 2007 at Bricklyn Village, Nevis.~~adz:Left~~

     

     

     

     

     

    On Thursday 1st February 2007 the following persons were charged with the following offences;

     

    ·         Denvil Newman of Cayon was charged with the offence of "Indecent Exposure", which was committed on 29-01-07.

     

     

     

    ·         Roy Nias of Challengers Village was charged with the offence of "Disorderly Conduct by Making Noise", committed on 1st February 2007, at the Pelican Mall. He was granted bail in the sum of $5,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate's Court on 5/2/07.

     

     

     

    ·         Trevor Hector of Basseterre was charged with the offence of "Larceny", which was committed on 1st February 2007 at Kings Pavilion.

     

     

     

    ·         Clyde Bailey of Lower Pitcairn Street, Basseterre was charged with the offence of "Building Breaking with Intent" committed on 30th January 2007, at the Beach Allen Primary School.

     

     

     

    ·         Marcus Huggins of Bath Village, Nevis was charged with the offence of "Possession of a Controlled Drug" to wit Cannabis, committed on 1st February 2007 at Bath Village.

     

     

     

    At the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Wednesday 31st January 2007, Marcus Smith of Toronto Canada who was charged with the offence "Making use of Indecent Language" committed on 29th January 2007 at the R.L.B. Airport pleaded guilty to the charge.  Smith was subsequently reprimanded and discharged by the Senior Magistrate Mrs. Mallileu-Webbe. ~~adz:Right~~

     

     

     

     

     

    On 1st February 2006 the following persons were convicted at the Basseterre Magistrate Court;

     

    ·         George Welcome of Ponds Pasture who was charged with the offences of "Battery" and "Wounding" which were committed on 20-04-06 was convicted and fined $1,000.00 to be paid in six (6) months or in default he would serve six (6) months in prison, for each charge.

     

     

     

    ·         Giron Browne of Keys Extension, who was charged with the offence of Possession of a Controlled Drug" to wit cannabis, which was committed on 22-12-06, was convicted and fined $2,500.00 to be paid in six (6) months or in default he would serve six (6) in prison, and if no further conviction in the next two (2) years his record will be cleared.

     

     

     

     

     

    At the Sandy Point Magistrate Court on 31st January 2006, Steve Carty of Willets Project, St. Pauls who charged with the offence "Being drunk in a public place" pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $500.00 to be paid in two weeks or in default to serve one month imprisonment with hard labour. Carty also pleaded guilty to an additional charge of "Indecent Language" and was fined $500.00 to be paid in one (1) month or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment with hard labour.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    The Police Sports Club in collaboration with Cable and Wireless has taken a decision to recognize the legacy of the late Sergeant Clive Benjamin who was killed in the line of duty.

     

     

     

    Sergeant Benjamin was an exceptional middle distance athlete and an avid sports fan.~~adz:Right~~

     

     

     

    Consequently, it has been decided that a 10 Kilometer Race called the "Clive Benjamin Inaugural Memorial 10 K Run" will be staged on Sunday 4th February 2007 in his honor.

     

     

     

    The race starts at 4:00 p.m., at Cabbage Tree Hill, Cayon and climaxes at the last round-a-bout in Frigate Bay where a brief ceremony will take place.
