    The general public is hereby notified that the Hon. Charles E. Mills CMG, JP, passed away quietly at his home at the Alley, Sandy Point on Wednesday February 7th 2007.

     

    The former teacher, Education Officer and Chief Education Officer was first elected to the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Assembly on 1st December 1975 as the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Parliamentary Representative for the Electoral District 5 from Sandy Point to Dieppe Bay. He was re-elected for that same district on 18th February 1980 and again for a third time in 1984.

     

    During the period 1975 to 1980, the Hon. Charles Mills served as Minister of Communications, Works and Public Utilities and as Minister of Finance in the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Administrations headed by Premiers, the Right Excellent Sir Robert L. Bradshaw; the Right Excellent Sir C.A. Paul Southwell and His Excellency Sir Lee Llewellyn Moore. ~~adz:Right~~   

     

    In 1984, the Hon. Charles Mills was appointed Leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition, a position he held until he demitted office in 1989.

     

    St. Kitts and Nevis' Prime Minister the Hon Denzil Douglas who succeeded the Hon. Charles Mills as Parliamentary Representative of Constituency #6 in 1989, has expressed sadness at his passing and has conveyed his condolences to Mrs. Sylvia Mills and family.

     

    Funeral arrangements will be made by the family.
