The Criminal Investigations Department at the Charlestown Police Station is carrying out investigation into the death of Shirmel Phillip of Brown Hill, Nevis which occurred on Friday 16
th February 2007. One person is presently in police custody assisting with the investigation and a post mortem will be performed at a later date to determine the exact cause of death.
Any persons who with information in relation to this incident are asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department in Charlestown, Nevis at 469-5392 and can do so anonymously.
On Friday 16th February 2007 at the Sandy Point Magistrate's Court, the following persons were convicted and sentenced as follows:
1. Chrispin Carey of Tabernacle who was charged with the offence of "Indecent Language" which was committed on 15/1/07 was convicted and fined $500.00 to be paid in two (2) weeks or default he would serve one (1) imprisonment.
2. William Dyett of St. Paul Village, who was charged with the offence of "Driving without Due Care and Attention", which was committed on 16/1/07, was convicted and cautioned.
On Friday 16th February 2007 at the Basseterre Point Magistrate's Court, Glen Christopher of Sheppard Street, Newtown who was charged with the offence of "Larceny" committed between 13th and 14th July 2006 was convicted and sentenced to serve two (2) months imprisonment with hard labour.~~adz:Right~~
The following persons were arrested and charged on Sunday 18th February 2007;
· Leon Sutton of Freeman Village was arrested and charged with the offence of "Unlawful Possession" which was committed on 18/2/07 at Basseterre.
· Justin Henry of Hermitage Village, Cayon was arrested and charged with the offence of "Disorderly Conduct by making noise" which was committed on 18/2/07 at Basseterre.
· Neville Fahie of Newtown Ground Village was arrested and charged with the offence of "Driving without Insurance" which was committed on 15/2/07 at Keys Village.
