We of the Caribbean Community deeply regret the death of Mr. Robert Woolmer and the tragic circumstances surrounding it. We extend our deepest sympathies to Mrs. Woolmer and her family at this most difficult time.
This is a loss that has been felt by the entire world of cricket and by the Pakistan cricket team in particular.
We fully support the Jamaican authorities in their investigation of this tragic death and we are confident that they will do everything in their power to bring this case to a swift and just conclusion.
The rest of the region stands ready to help in any way it can. In this regard, we reiterate the appeal by the Jamaica Constabulary Force for anyone with information on this tragic incident to contact them.
The Caribbean Community and its international partners have worked closely together and with the ICC/CWC WI - on security arrangements for the Cricket World Cup 2007. Jamaica has been an integral part of this extensive planning process. The Community remains committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all our citizens as well as players, officials, and supporters.
