    (Charlestown, Nevis)  Just hours after the shooting death of Jamarli Chapman of Bath Village, Antonio Brown of Newcastle Village was attacked by gunmen in what some described as gang warfare.
    Officers of the Newcastle Police Station are presently investigating the shooting incident which took place at Shaws Road on Sunday, April, 15.  The incident left Brown suffering from a number of gunshot injuries.
    Brown, 20, was treated at the Alexandra Hospital and is currently being detained for further observation.
    In response to the recent upsurge in violence the police are appealing to members of the public who may have useful information in relation to these incidents of crime to contact the nearest police station with relevant information.
    Inspector of Police Andre Mitchell of the Charlestown Police Station said the information received will be treated with the strictest of confidence.
    We continue to solicit the help of the public in ridding our society of crime and violence, he said.
    Browns incident marked the second shooting incident to take place on Nevis over last weekend, as on Saturday evening Jamarli Chapman was shot to death at a shop in Bath Village..~~adz:Right~~
    The shooting incident took place around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night at Elrose Shop in Bath Village where Chapman went to play music.  After the shooting 22-year old Chapman was rushed to hospital and he succumbed to his injuries shortly after 12:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
    Police reports indicate that investigations into both matters are currently ongoing.
    We are appealing to members of the public who may have useful information in relation to these incidents of crime to contact the following departments/station: Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at 469-5254, the Newcastle Police Station at 469-9326 or the nearest police station, Inspector Mitchell said.
