    Hon. Premier Joseph Parry
(Charlestown, Nevis) --- The Bath Village community came out in their numbers on Thursday night to light candles in memory of the late Jamarlee Chapman at the Bath Village Community Centre.

The Hon. Premier Joseph Parry was notably present to pay his condolences to the family of the deceased as well as community members.

"First of all I must say that I am very disappointed with the two incidents.  However, I have been reminded by the police that last year started like this and we still saw a decrease in the rate of crime," he said.  "However, I must say that my government won the election and one of the things it campaigned against was the reduction of crime. And one of the things that we are very serious about is the reduction of crime."

He continued, "We are very serious about taking the necessary measures to deal with crime.  We will be doing everything in our power to create an awareness that crime is wrong, to create an awareness that our boys especially need to be positive and stay away from gangs, drugs and criminal activity in as much as we need to do to make our country strong."

Also notably present to share sentiments with the family was the Deputy Premier the Hon. Hensley Daniel.

"Jamarlee was an outstanding footballer and he did very well.  There is a lot of talent in Bath Village to celebrate, despite this downfall.  Bath Village is the only community in Nevis that continues to play football all year round.  I want to remind you that there is an African saying that "It takes a village to raise a child.  So that I want you from this evening to say that all of the children in Bath belong to us in Bath Village," said the Deputy Premier.

He continued, "No one must be up here tomorrow between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. when they are supposed to be in school.  No child must be heard swearing on the road because these are our children.  No child should be at risk because these are our children.  No child must be in the bar liming until after 10 p.m. because these are our children.  Maybe we all have to do that some more so that we can get a better Bath Village. I am sure that we can prevent this from happening again."

"In the death of Jamarlee, let us console ourselves with tremendous pride and all we can do for their legacy is to ensure that this never happens again.  We must make a resolve that this never happens again.  If you know something, say something.  If you see something, say something.  This matter must never happen again," he said closing.
