    Basseterre, St.Kitts (April 23rd 2007):-
This year's annual Convention of the People's Action Movement was an exciting, inspiring, intriguing and upbeat event that demonstrated the tremendous confidence of the Party leading up to the next poll, which political observers have suggested is just around the corner, will bode well for a PAM
    victory.

The Party's Headquarters was packed with many of the parties members, friends , supporters and well wishers.  The  attendees endured the heat of the auditorium until the very end and enthusiastically encouraged the speakers throughout the afternoon. All the speakers were very well received and there was no end of factual and detailed points to be made about the problems of the current Labour Administration. However  the most significant issue for the massive crowd in attendance was undoubtedly the distribution of former sugar lands.
The contestants for the highly anticipated Miss Personality and Marvelous Queen show slated for April 28th were introduced and featured at the convention. The beautiful

young ladies were acknowledged by speaker after speaker and were praised for their beauty and poise as they were able to remain attentive to what was presented despite the uncomfortable heat generated by the packed hall. Delegate #1 volunteered and presented a gift on behalf of the party to the guest speaker Mr. Rudranath Indarsingh

The guest speaker, Mr. Rudranath Indarsingh , the President of the All Trinidad Sugar and General Workers Trade Union, discussed how the Trinidadian Government closed its sugar industry and highlighted its land use policy. Indarsingh emphasized the role played by the ATSGWTU in the collective bargaining process for the displaced sugar workers.  The crowd responded loudly when told how much money the Trinidadian sugar workers received and especially how much land were distributed for farming and housing. It is clear that the land issue will be a pivotal one during the next campaign season.
St.Kitts-Nevis Opposition Party Peoples Action Movement Leader Lindsay Grant
PAM party Political Leader Lawyer. Lindsay Fitz-Patrick
Grant moved and impressed the audience with a lengthy but well researched and received presentation that touched the major socio-political problems affecting the Nation. Mr, Grant was  especially effective when he explored and discussed the issue of debt and borrowing with figures from some of the more popular recent developments.

One of the more memorable parts of the afternoon was the taped message from the First rime Minister of the federation of St.Kitts-Nevis and former PAM party leader Sir the Rt. Hon Dr. Kennedy Alphonse Simmonds which garnered a standing ovation from the crowd. Clearly Dr. Simmonds is held high in the affections of the rank and file of the Party.

The other speakers included Dr. Irvin Sweeny and Candidates for the upcoming elections including Dr. Charles Warner, Roy Flemming,  Glenroy Blanchette, Eugene Hamilton and the  Hon. Shawn K. Richards who all  roused the crowd. The attendees got a chance to  mingle with Candidates and Party officials during a dinner which took

place after the formal speeches were concluded. The mood was optimistic and positive throughout the afternoon and there was a real sense of anticipation of good things to come and a feeling of destiny calling among all the participants. By all accounts the event, which was carried live on WINNFM, was a resounding success.
