The new TDC Downtown Plaza opened its doors to the public on the morning of Monday, April, 23, on Central Street, Basseterre.

The plaza is a combination of City Drug Store, (CDS) a subsidiary of TDC and Business Equipment coming together and forming one major department store.

At a brief ceremony and the cutting of the ribbon by Director of CDS Wilmoth Browne, several persons gathered for the momentous occasion.

Present at the ceremony were TDC officials including members of the board, managers and staff from both CDS and Business Equipment.

Nick Menon, a Director at TDC, delivered a few remarks and thanked the necessary persons who worked hard in making the building what it is today.

He said that the plaza would add value to their clients and ensures comfortable work space and shopping space for both staff and clients respectively.

"Our initiative to try and maintain the architecture and the ambience of our downtown Basseterre was a very important decision to us," he said. "As you can see with this building here, it's one we execute well, it came with quiet a high cost, but falls within our corporate vision this year of ensuring to beautify, to preserve,  and to secure the environment we work within."

~~adz:Left~~He said the planning and designing was conceived by Architectural Firm Brisbane & Associates and that the building's construction was done by the company of Lennox Warner.

The new home of the Business Equipment and CDS is very spacious with CDS and a section of Business Equipment sharing the bottom floor while the top floor is solely occupied by Business Equipment.

The opening followed with anxious customers who took advantage of discounts, sales and more that came with the opening. Two lucky customers who were the first to check out at each point received vouchers and goody bags from each company.

A representative from the Washington Archibald High School also received a token from the company which was a camcorder and First Aid kit, totaling to the value of $3,500.

Menon said that all the school within St. Kitts and Nevis will receive the gifts which will go towards their school's programs.
