    Eglantine Lucille Weekes
    (Basseterre; St. Kitts):
Following the deaths of Ina Elfreda Athurton Skeete (66) and Eglantine Lucille Weekes (74), both of Molyneaux Street, Pond's Pasture, within two days of each other, the mind is forced to wonder whether it is just coincidence or the death of one adversely affecting the other resulting in the death of the other.

Ina died on 7th May, and Eglantine died on the 9th.

Before one draws any conclusions, it is best to look at the friendship between these two neighbours that spanned over 31 years.

They were regarded as the mothers of the area they lived in and even though they had contrasting temperaments- Ina was upbeat while Eglantine was quiet and reserved - there chemistry was the perfect blend to raise the village.

These two ladies believed in action gospel and there are very few from the area who were not privy to their pots or had not had time to rest their bones in the mothers' houses.

Indeed their relationship transcended the natural as they established a phenomenal bond, so much so that when one was recently admitted to the hospital, the other followed within days.

Thus they made they made their contribution to life, ensuring that many were set on the 'straight and narrow'.

True, we mourn the loss of two great women but in the same instance we must celebration the legacy that they have left.

Will they be buried next to each other? It is left to be seen.
