Being a mother is a gift and the very fact that someone is greeted by the phrase "Happy Mother's Day" indicates that the person receiving the greeting has impacted positively on someone's life.
I am not a mother-far from- but I am indebted to the many who positively shaped my life, guiding me through the valleys and leading me to the mountain tops and it would be pure ignorance to the fullest if I do not take the opportunity to thank those who loved into manhood and pay general tribute to Mothers.

Many of us are blessed to have our mothers alive but take for granted the struggles they endured to raise the family and the extent they went to ensure that their support for their children is visible for all to see.
Who am I to talk? I may be the very least but I most definitely robbed of the opportunity to show my appreciation for Mother.

I lost my mother at the age of nine and up to this day it is still amazing to see the impact she had on me in the short time I knew her for. She was my friend, my teacher, my support- my everything.

From then I was fortunate to have Grandma, my aunts, other relatives and friends and even women who I hardly knew mother me into adulthood. For this I say thanks.

My gratitude does not do justice to the invaluable contributions these people made on my life, but it is a start by recording my thanks.

Being a mother does not mean there must be some biological connection- hardly. It certainly means that the person has capitalized on the gift of being a mother to teach, love, support, train up a child "in the way he should go".

It often humbles me to see the strength of the single mother as she overcomes obstacle after unbelievable obstacle because of one glaring fact, love for her child.
We owe it all to mothers and the very name melts the coldness around the hearts of man and cuts away the jagged edges of the so called tough.

To the single mother who has been mother and father to her children - I salute you.

To the mother who works umpteen jobs to support her own - I salute you.

To the mother in the community who stretches her love to those who are not even related - I salute you.

To the teen mother who balances between school and a number of other things -I salute you.
To the man who mothers the child  - I salute you.

As the lyrics of the popular song says "Mama you're the queen of my heart.....Mama just want you to know, loving you is like to food to my soul".

    HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOU!
