The Cable and Digicel were once again named the major sponsors of the 26th Annual St. Kitts Open Golf Championship, which is scheduled to take place from May 24th to 27th, at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Course.
Royal St. Kitts Golf Club Vice President Vernon Veira says that he is pleased for the long-standing support from The Cable and the recent support by Digicel. In 2006 Digicel co-sponsored with The Cable for the first time, just one year after its arrival to the mobile telecommunications market on the island.
"I want to thank the sponsors for their support of this year's tournament and all of the other sponsors for coming on board. Through sponsorships such as the very long-standing support that we have received from The Cable, its commitment to junior golf on St. Kitts has led to some new developments. Bill Ewing, its Managing Director recently gave a commitment to assist the Club to strengthen our junior golf programme, which is coordinated by Zeke Percival, assisted by Raymond Percival. And we are exploring an expressed interest by Digicel along the same lines," Veira remarked.
Over 150 golfers are expected to converge on St. Kitts for the annual tournament representing countries from the region spanning from as far North as Miami to as far South as Trinidad and Tobago to vie for titles from the five overall categories: Championship, Men's, Senior's, Super Senior's, and Ladies.

The St. Kitts Open Golf Championship is an annual tournament hosted by the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Course. Marriott Golf manages the Royal St. Kitts Golf Course. The capacity for registrations for the 2007 tournament is 165. This year's tournament schedule will include an opening reception on May 24th, where a high level Government Official is expected to declare the tournament open; May 25: Day 1 of play; May 26: Day 2 of play; May 27: Day 3 of play, closing ceremony and prize giving. |
