Police Press Release

     

     

    At the Sandy Point Magistrate Court on 15th May 2007, the following persons were convicted;

     

    ·        Elvis Crosse of Challengers Village was convicted of the offences of 'Being armed with an offensive weapon' and 'Escaping Lawful Custody' committed on 13th October 2006 at West Farm. He was subsequently fined $1000.00 to be paid in two months or in default to serve six (6) months hard labour on the first charge and cautioned for the second charge.

     

     

     

    ·        Anthony Mulley of Tabernacle Village was convicted of the offences of 'Being Found in a Dwelling House for some unlawful purpose' committed on 28th February 2007. He was subsequently placed on a bond in the sum of $2,000.00 for a period of six (6) months. He is to have no contact with the complainant in the case and if he breaches any of these conditions he will be returned to the court for sentencing.

     

     

     

    ·        Wrensford Huggins of Tabernacle Village was convicted of the offences of 'Leaving the scene of a traffic accident', 'Failure to report an accident' and 'Driving without due care and attention' committed on 9th April 2007. He was cautioned for the first two charges and fined $750.00 to be paid in two (2) months or in default to serve two (2) months in prison.

     

     

     

    ·        A fifteen year old male of the Sandy Point area was convicted and sentenced to serve six (6) months imprisonment for the offence of 'House Breaking and Larceny' committed on 13th March 2007 at Molyneaux.

     

     

     

     

     


    At the Charlestown Magistrate Court on 15th May 2007 the following persons were convicted;

     

    ·        Stevenson Jones of Fountain Village was convicted and fined $250.00 in one (1) month or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment for the offence of 'Failing to comply with a traffic sign'. He was also convicted for the offence of 'Refusing to give his name when lawfully required to do so' and was subsequently fined $400.00 to be paid in two (2) months or in default to serve one (1) month imprisonment. The offences were committed on 25th March 2007 at Charlestown.

     

     

     

    ·        Malroy Martin of Craddock Road, Charlestown who was charged with the offences of 'Making Use of Insulting Language' and 'Making Use of Indecent Language' was convicted and sentenced to serve one (1) month imprisonment for each charge with sentences to run concurrently. The offences were committed at Craddock Road, Charlestown.

     

     

     

    At the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 15th May 2007, Nigel Foreman of Stapleton Village, who was charged with the offence of 'Disorderly Conduct' by making noise committed on 13th April 2007, was convicted and fined $500.00 to be paid forthwith or in default to serve one week in prison.

     

     

     

     

     

    On Thursday 17th May 2007, officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Narcotics Unit destroyed approximately three (300) hundred lbs of controlled drugs the net result of operations over the past eight (8) months. The drugs which were destroyed included Cocaine, Heroin and Cannabis were intercepted at the air and seaports, during routine stop and search operations and eradication exercises. Forty (40) lbs of cocaine at a street value of $1.5 million U.S. currency and two hundred and fifty (250) lbs of cannabis at a street value of $1 million U.S. currency were destroyed by fire.
