The People's Action Movement kicked off its new schedule of public meetings with a massive meeting in the stronghold seat of Sandy Point. The residents of Crab Hill and its environs came out in their numbers to here the leadership of PAM bring fresh insights to the burning issues of the day. This meeting was the first is a series that will see the PAM travel through the country to meet with residents every Thursday until the bell rings. As usual Sandy Pointers were enthusiastic and eager to how the PAM will address the dire needs of the country and they were not disappointed.

The People's Action Movement kicked off its public education campaign with the release of its first set of policy proposals. The PAM proposes to remove all fees currently required for early childhood education at Government funded pre ' schools in order to ease the burden on parents who are already struggling financially to cope with the continually increasing cost of living. Additionally it proposes to remove the $10 prescription fees that are now imposed for the use of the Government dispensaries that forces elderly pensioners to pay a shocking 25% of their meager income just to ease their pain.

The crowd was especially supportive of their home town boy and elected representative, the Hon. Shawn Richards who rallied the crowd with a stirring presentation of just of vindictive this Administration has been to the people of Sandy Point. The highlight of his presentation was a slide show of the deplorable state of the Sandy Point High School which lacks even the most basic amenities such as plumbing for the labs and desks for the classrooms. Everyone was shocked and outraged at the unsanitary conditions including termite infested rooms with moss growing on the floors that the children are forced to cope with just to get an education.

The meeting was wrapped up as usual by a presentation by Mr. Grant in which he exposed just how deceptive this Administration has been to the people of St. Kitts & Nevis. He quoted the election manifesto from 1993 to outline the myriad of unfulfilled promises used to mamaguy the populace and warned the crowd to be vigilant because the next election will see plenty more of the same. The meeting went until almost midnight and the crowd stayed until the very end in order to meet and mingle with their candidates.
