St. Kitts Entertainment Weekend Review

Random shots from Gspot
By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LAST weekend was a mellow one with not too many events apart from the normal weekend hangouts.

On Friday night the bars on the Frigate Bay Strip did not begin to get crowded until sometime after 2:00 a.m. Ziggy’s Bar and Lava Ground, as well as Family and Friends were the main spots kicking with action for the night.

In Sandy Point the G-Spot was alive with music from 6:00 p.m. but did not get into full swing until after midnight. Although there were more males than females at the venue, the latter dominated the dance floor all night.

Meanwhile, Saturday saw the finals for the first ever St. Kitts Music Festival Local Promotions Committee’s DJ Clash.  The turnout was fair and the event ended with Chalice Sounds outshining three other DJs to take bragging rights for one year.

Yesterday, at Beaumont Park in Dieppe Bay, the Nu Vibes Band warmed up patrons with a pre-Music Festival jam which had a good turnout that ended shortly before 9:00 p.m.

The Strip was once again awakened to the sounds of the Four Play Band at Doc’s, while DJ Yardy entertained a small gathering at Ziggy’s Bar’s happy hour session.

On Saturday night the Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral held a Gospel Concert which featured overseas singers as well as local artistes like Masud Sadiki, Nigel Browne and Larry Vaughan. (See review elsewhere on this website). This fundraiser was well received and thoroughly enjoyed by patrons.

If you would like your event listed in the weekly entertainment Weekend Round-up, feel free to email us at entertainment@sknvibes.com. Also, remember to look out this Friday for upcoming events.
