A fire that occurred at approximately 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning, in the Cardin Avenue area of "De Village", which has left a man, Glen Webbe alias "Dutty", homeless.

The Fire and Rescue Services are investigating the consequences that led to the complete gutting of the house by fire.

Coincidentally, the house that was destroyed by the fire was a two bedroom apartment that was shared between "Dutty" and his cousin, Llewellyn Buchanan, who was found dead in the house on Tuesday evening, May 22nd.

Webbe noted that he did not sleep in his section on Tuesday night, as the stench from the other part of the house, where the dead cousin was found, was overwhelming and he felt there was a need to sleep elsewhere.

He returned home on Wednesday morning around 6 and shortly after left to go to work.

However, minutes after he left for work, he was informed by neighbours that his house was on fire.

By the time he retraced his steps back home, neighbours were working concerted, using hoses and buckets of water, to try to put out the fire.

By the time the Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene the whole house was completely destroyed by the fire.

"I feel really bad because this is my home where I have been living for some time now and all of my possessions have been completely destroyed, except the clothes on my back," Webbe said.

Speculations are high in the immediate vicinity of that the fire was an act of arson.
