Police Press Release

    On Wednesday 23rd May 2007 the following persons were charged with offences;

     

     

     

    ·         Clayton Davis of Sandy Point was charged with the offence of "Driving without Insurance" committed on the Island Main Road at Camps on 22nd May 2007.

     

     

     

    ·         Theodore Williams of Basseterre was charged with the offence of "House Breaking and Larceny" committed between 3rd and 4th April 2007 at Thompson Street, Basseterre. Williams was also charged with the offence of "Larceny" committed on 20th May 2007 at the Ferry Terminal, Basseterre.

     

     

     

    ~~Adz:Left~~On Thursday 24th May 2007, Akilah Christian alias "Kilah" of Carty Alley, Newtown who was reported missing on Monday 21st May 2007 was found. As a result of an anonymous call, Akilah was found at Ponds Pasture Paddock around 6:00 a.m. Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

     

     

     

    The police would like to thank public for their continued cooperation, particularly the person who made the anonymous call which led to Akilah.

     

      

     

    On Wednesday 23rd May 2007 at the Basseterre Magistrate Court, James Olfonzo Dyer alias "Greasy-man" of Verchild's was convicted of the offences of "Indecent Exposure" and "Escaping Lawful Custody". He was subsequently sentenced to serve three (3) months imprisonment with hard labour for each charge, with sentences to run consecutively. The offences were committed on Saturday 19th May 2007 at Victoria Road, where Dyer was seen exposing his person and then fled from police by vaulting a fence in the area.

     

     

     

     

     

    At approximately 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday 22nd May 2007, the body of the late Llewellyn Buchanan of Trafalgar Village was discovered in a severely decomposed state at his home. Buchanan, who was forty-eight (48) years old, was last seen on Saturday 19th May 2007. Police investigations did not reveal any signs of foul play and due to severe state of decomposition the Chief Medical Officer recommended that the body be buried immediately. The body of the late Llewellyn Buchanan was laid to rest on Tuesday 22nd May 2007 at the Springfield Cemetery.

     

     

     

    On Wednesday 23rd May 2007, officers of the Gingerland Police Station destroyed two (2) fields of cannabis plants that were found growing in a valley above the New River Estate. The plants destroyed, approximately one hundred and eighty-eight (188), ranged from seeding to two (2) feet in height. No one has been charged in connection with the find.
