Press Release- Ministry of Foreign Affairs
    ~~Adz:Left~~ On Tuesday, 29th May 2007, Ms Theresa Nisbett, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, flanked by the Cuban Press, signed a Joint Communiqué on behalf of the Government of St Kitts and Nevis to guide the level of cooperation in a variety of areas during the coming months.
     
    The Communiqué, concluded talks to deepen the already very friendly and beneficial relationship between the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of Cuba.  H E Orlando Requeijo, Vice Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation also signed the document on behalf of the Cuban Government.

    Before signing the Communiqué, Ms Theresa Nisbett received a detailed report of the work carried out by Cuban social workers in both St Kitts and Nevis in the area of energy conservation.  Many households in the Federation benefited by receiving fluorescent light bulbs from the Cuban Government free of charge.
     
    The Permanent Secretary who is currently in Havana, Cuba attending the Sixth Session of the St Kitts and Nevis-Cuba Joint Commission expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Cuban Government and its people and conveyed her hope that the work accomplished during the session will bear much fruit in the near future. ~~Adz:Right~~
     
    H. E. Mr Orlando Requeijo thanked Ms Nisbett and the rest of the delegation for participating in an extremely successful exchange between representatives of various Cuban Ministries in various areas, among them Health, Education, Agriculture, Culture, Sports, Finance and Trade.
     
    While in Cuba, the Permanent Secretary also had the opportunity to meet with her Cuban counterparts in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
     
    The other members of the delegation are Ms Kaye Bass and Verna Morris of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ms Angelica Elliott of the Premier´s Ministry, Nevis.
     
    The Government of St Kitts and Nevis once again wishes to register its sincere appreciation to resident Ambassador of Cuba Her Excellency Ana María Suarez and Diplomatic Attaché Yarine Ramírez for the pivotal role they are playing to strengthen the ties that bind both of our countries.
