Delphic Newtown United FC and Coury Gatorade Conaree FC Share the Spoils

Conaree’s coach enters the field of play without referee’s permission

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THEY shared the spoils!!  In this, the first of two matches played last night (June 5) at the Warner Park Stadium, Delphic Newtown United FC (NUFC) and Coury Gatorade Conaree FC (CFC) shared the points in an evenly matched game.

As the stadium slowly filled to capacity with what appeared to be Newtown United supporters, it was clear to see that an outright win was on the confident minds of both teams.

Newtown United, however, showed themselves wanting the win more than Conaree did as they pressed forward very early, and on the 11th minute of play found the back of the net with Earl Jones scoring the first goal.

Down a goal, Conaree would soon be down a coach as well when the game had to be stopped due to an injury incurred by a Newtown United player. Amazingly, it was the coach who was expelled to the stands.  Reason? He had left his technical area and entered the field of play without the referee’s permission.

The first half came to an end after three injury time minutes were added, with two  warning yellow cards going to Newtown United’s Zevon Archibald (30th minute) and Steve Francis (40th minute).

As the game resumed, on the 49th minute mark, Errol O’Loughlin was shown a yellow card for an inappropriate tackle.

Following in the footsteps of O’Loughlin, Newtown United’s Errol Jones received a yellow card fifty-five minutes into play.

The 2nd half had double the amount of action as substitutes were called upon by both teams in the; 60th minute, 70th minute, 75th minute and 80th minute.

Jason Isaac, of Newtown United, made a bad challenge in the 85th minute and saw himself go into the referee’s book with a yellow card.

Taking the free kick, Conaree capitalized on the opportunity at hand and equalized - kudos to Aston Davis.

Newtown United then began showing signs of frustration, throwing away a number of chances to lead once again.

Before the close of play, Andy Samuel of Conaree collected a yellow card.

Changes were made again by Conaree, but it was too little too late.

Both teams now will look forward to winning their remaining games and advance to the finals after their 1-1 draw.
