Warm hearts and the willingness to help one in need - that's the best way to describe the recent actions of staff at Cable & Wireless St. Kitts & Nevis.
When Mrs. Fyfield , told employee Claudette Walwyn how badly her five year old daughter was suffering with an uncommon illness, and the difficulty she was having with medical bills, the employee immediately thought she needed to help.
So she brought the case to the Vice President Marketing and Corporate Communications Mrs. Laverne Caines and they put their heads together. They decided to plan a potluck lunch to raise funds.
The result? Four thousand dollars. ($4000.00) But it did not stop there. Cable & Wireless then matched that total and the family was recently presented with a cheque for eight thousand dollars ($8000.00)
The funds will be used to defray the massive medical bills which the family incurred while seeking treatment for their daughter overseas.
The mother has reported that the treatment has worked and her daughter's health has improved significantly. "My family and especially my daughter are all very grateful to Cable & Wireless for their generous financial and emotional support. We don't know how we would have managed were it not for the management and staff Cable & Wireless. Thank you all very much."
Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Cable & Wireless Laverne Caines says, "our employees did not hesitate when we called on them to rally for this cause. We are proud to be able to assist this young lady and happy to hear that her health has improved. We can now embrace little Aniah as part of our extended family."
