BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (JUNE 4, 2007) - Parliamentary Representative for the Bird Rock area the Honourable Dr. Earl Asim Martin, has announced that he will host a town hall meeting on Tuesday, to hear from residents within his Constituency about Government's recently announced plans to construct a Sporting Facility in Bird Rock.

In a recent Post-Cabinet Statement, the Honourable Nigel Carty informed the general public that the Government had received a tender report from Terra Forma regarding the construction of a Sporting Facility in the Bird Rock area. This statement did not come as a surprise since in its 2004 general election manifesto, the St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party promised to construct a modern multipurpose entertainment and Sports facility at Bird Rock.~~Adz:Right~~

According to a statement issued by the Parliamentary Representative, the town hall meeting scheduled for Tuesday June 5th is slated to take place at the Conference Room at the Bird Rock Beach Hotel from 7:30 in the evening. The statement further indicated that the Director of Public Works, Mr. Calvin Pemberton, would be present at the town hall meeting to field questions about the proposed construction.

Dr. Martin says that the exercise is demonstrative of the Labour Government's commitment to open and transparent governance. "I want to give them [all persons] a chance to have a say and make their valuable input into this major sporting facility, which will be built in their community. The exercise is also geared at sharing information with Constituents in relation to ongoing and future projects locally and nationally."
