    Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on the night of Saturday 2nd June 2007 at Carty Alley, Newtown. The incident left a thirty-nine (39) year old male of the Newton area with multiple gunshot injuries to his body.


     One person is presently assisting police with investigations into this report. Any person(s) with information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 465-2241 Ext 220 / 230 / 236 and they can do so anonymously. 


    On Monday 4th June 2007 officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and Defence Force executed a search warrant on the premises of Denzil Williams of Fort Thomas Road, Basseterre.

    On entering the premises a (17) seventeen year old male was stopped and searched and found in possession of a .38 special revolver with six (6) rounds of ammunition. 

    On searching the surroundings areas the officers also found three (3) twelve gauge (12) shotgun shells and a magazine with seven (7) rounds of 9 mm ammunition concealed within a wall. 


    The juvenile has been charged with the offences of "Possession of a Firearm" and "Possession of Ammunition" in relation to what was found on his person. No one has been charged in connection to the other ammunition that was found in the area. The following people were charged with offence between 2nd and 4th June 2007;  ~~Adz:Right~~

    " On 3rd June 2007, Clyde Norford of St. Pauls Village was charged with the offence of "Wounding with Intent" committed on 28th May 2007 at Cockle Shell Beach on the South East Peninsula. 


    " On 3rd June 2007, Rupert Ponte of Parsons Village was charged with the offence of "Taking a vehicle without the owners consent" and "Driving without Insurance" committed on 1st June 2007. 

    " On 2nd June 2007, George Dickenson of St. Pauls Village was charged with the offence of "Obstruction" committed on 1st June 2007 at the St. Pauls Primary School on 2nd June 2007. 


    " On 4th June 2007, Jonelle Merrit alias "Jeto" of Gillards Housing, St. Peters was charged with the offence of "Wounding with Intent" by shooting committed against a twenty-four year old male on Thursday 31st May 2007 at College Street, Basseterre. 

    On Monday 4th June 2007, twenty-one (21) tickets were issued for traffic offence namely for failing to comply with traffic signs five (5) tickets were issued and for driving unlicensed vehicles (16) sixteen tickets were issued. 

    Road users are urged to comply with all traffic signs regardless of the time of day and to ensure that their vehicles are licensed and issued in accordance with the law.
