    Nigel Carty, Minister of State.
(Basseterre; St. Kitts):  A post cabinet briefing was held on Monday, June 4, to discuss the major project on the South-East Peninsula called the St. Kitts Peninsula Resort.

According to Nigel Carty, Minister of State, the project involves the development of a marina, three hotels, a golf course, about 2000 high-end residential units around the golf course, restaurants, and commercial buildings.

Specific aspects of the long-term development agreement were debated and cabinet approved the agreement in principle and now the developers are expected to move ahead with project implementation as soon as possible.~~Adz:Right~~

The project is being undertaken by the Auberge Firesky Company and the Kiawah Group out of North Carolina and has the full support of the cabinet considering the enormous benefits it would bring for employment opportunities and general economic activity.

"The Cabinet engaged in in-depth follow-up discussions on this project after a government team had met with the Kiawah and Auberge groups over the past weeks."

Cabinet urged the technical team involved in the negotiations to complete the negotiations as soon as possible.
