Deputy Prime Minister of St. Kitts & Nevis and Minister or Education the Hon. Sam T. Condor
Minister of Education, Hon. Sam Condor has submitted a proposal to Social Security that will give more local student s the opportunity to access tertiary level education.

The Minister revealed his proposal, which stems from a personal dream, while speaking to an audience at the commissioning of the new Science lab for the Washington Archibald High School.

Minister Condor, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, indicated that his proposal challenges Social Security to provide between EC$500- 1000 as the basis for an education fund for every child born in the Federation.

Upon completion of high school, and the child is ready to commence his or her tertiary level education, they can then access the fund- which is only for education, to continue their studies. The proposal asks for students to get the base finance as well as accumulated interests.

Once the fund is not used by a child, the money goes back to Social Security.

After the Minister disclosed his proposal, it was met with appreciative applause, as it is represents a very significant step in the improvement of education in the twin island state.

Minister Condor said that it was disappointing to learn that only about 6% of the countrys young people pursue tertiary education and this new proposal is the initial step to providing students with the financial base required to start their tertiary level education.

The Minister also shared his passion for the continuous improvement of the education sector and noted that it was imperative that every effort be taken to be on top of the education curve in this competitive world.

He challenged students to capitalize on every opportunity to improve their learning.  ~~Adz:Right~~

The Education Minister noted that it was unfortunate that huge sums of money , which could be used for other projects, have to be spent on security, as serious acts of burglary and vandalism have threatened to eclipse positive achievement.

In that light, he challenged those in attendance, and the various local communities, to be vigilant and help to protect the various investments made.

St. Kitts and Nevis has one of the highest literacy rate throughout the region.
