Office Manager of Caribbean Lottery Valerie Sprouse presents cheque to Acting Director of Sport Dave Connor
    Basseterre
, St. Kitts (June 11, 2007): The Department of Sports has a new corporate sponsor as appeals for companies to support developmental programmes for young people continue to resonate.

On Thursday, Office Manager of Caribbean Lottery Valerie Sprouse, presented a sponsorship cheque valued at $3,000.00 to the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and Culture for the annual Primary School Netball Festival.

Acting Director of Sport Dave Connor accepted the donation for the tournament which will be played from June 19 to 22. He thanked Caribbean Lottery for its contribution and noted that it will help to offset some of the expenses incurred during the staging of this annual festival.

Marketing Representative James Morris told SKNIS that a change of ownership in 2004 created a new vision for the company.

"One of those things is to be a better corporate citizen and give back more to the community," he said, adding that sporting initiatives were favoured by his company. "We want to develop kids and make them better all around citizens. Teach them about teamwork, make them better leaders and make them more aware of what their contributions to society should be." ~~Adz:Right~~

Mr. Morris said discipline and a willingness to give back to the community were attributes associated with sports which add to the attractiveness of providing support for this field.

Morris indicated that the company was willing to support other community projects and encouraged non-governmental organizations and other individuals to submit community-based proposals for funding.

Caribbean Lottery's corporate slogan is "Keeping the spirit of the nation alive through sports, welfare and education." This is tied directly with the new focus to give back to the community on an ongoing basis.
