(Basseterre; St. Kitts):  Twenty six new police recruits have been urged to take their training seriously.  The recruits, ten from Dominica, five from Grenada and eleven from St.Kitts/Nevis along with senior officers and Minister of National Security attended the official opening of course number 35 held at the police school on Monday, June, 11.

Deputy Commander Inspector Terrance James urged the recruits to work hard during their course of training.  He said the training programme is an intense programme and there is no time for jokes.

"This is serious business, because we can see what is happening in our society today," he said.

In closing he said he welcomes the new recruits to assist them in solving the crimes that are happening in our society today.~~Adz:Right~~

Commissioner, Robert Jeffers also commended the recruits, he said that they are glad that young people are taking the initiative to come forward especially at this time when most of the crimes are committed by persons of their ages and even younger.

Jeffers said he would like to see the training continue to help increase the numbers in the police force.

Meanwhile, Minister of National Security, Hon. Dwyer Astaphan has called on the new recruits to do their very best with the law and follow the rules of the police organization and encourages them to learn all aspects of the law.

Astaphan implored the young men to carry the knowledge and confidence into their investigation, evidence presentation and gathering prosecutions and the entire process of policing.
