Machel Montano, the energetic entertainer who is widely regarded as the soca king of the world, is promising an electrifying performance for eagerly awaiting fans at the 11th edition of the St. Kitts Music Festival, on Thursday 21st June.

Machel made the promise while doing an interview with SKNVibes on Tuesday afternoon, June 12th.

As a matter of fact, the promotional posters for the Music Festival boldly state that Machel Montano HD will be performing. One may ask why HD. HD simply stands for High Definition ad it is probably a most fitting label for the enthralling performances delivered by Machel and his band.

The young artiste, who was born in 1974 in Siparia, Trinidad and Tobago, has employed an interesting concept to keep his band and his performances fresh. Machel has chosen certain names or themes every year that his band   revolves around.

Hence, HD, and in relation to this, Machel boldly claims that he is the first human to go “high definition”.

He is no stranger to the St. Kitts Music Festival, as this would be his third time on the St. Kitts Music Festival stage and his dynamism has left an indelible mark on the prestigious musical extravaganza.

“I love the St. Kitts Music Festival because it stands out from the others. It is also a central point and the fan reception has been incredible,” Machel noted.

“The fans can definitely look forward to a high energy performance because I want them to dance, and dance, and dance,” he added.

The soca music icon noted that he always endeavours to take soca music to the limit and always raise the standard of his performances.                                                                                                        ~~Adz:Right~~

“I consider my music as a movement. I grew up in the Caribbean culture, and right now my aim is to preserve the culture through my music,” Machel stated.

He spoke of his collaborative efforts with other musicians from other genres and disclosed that such efforts have significantly improved the reaching capabilities of soca music, which is no longer limited to the Caribbean diaspora but is being embraced by the entire world.

As part of the of the Machel Montano HD performance for the upcoming St. Kitts Music Festival, several other artistes will perform along with Machel, including Patrice Roberts, who performed with him for his 2006 Road March tune ”Band of the Year”.

Even though he is relatively young, Machel is a veteran onstage. His road to fame began in 1984 with his tune “Too young to Soca” and since then the hits keep coming.

The artiste has done at least eight solo albums and another ten with his band Xtatik.

His collaborative efforts have been extensive and among those artistes who he has performed with are Alison Hinds, Beenie Man, Shaggy, Sparrow, Destra, Wyclef Jean, Mr. Vegas, Vybz Cartel and Doug E. Fresh.

Evidently the horizon is filled with further exploits for Machel as he continues his campaign to make his music, Soca, an avenue to reach out to people from all walks of life.

The ideal comment while listening to his music would be “I Just Wanna Dance”.
