CHARLESTOWN Nevis June 14th 2011 – Nevis’ Premier, the Hon. Joseph W. Parry, officially launched his re-election campaign at a major political rally on Saturday in his hometown of Cotton Ground in the Parish of St. Thomas. The Nevis leader, who was flanked by his four colleague candidates, did not announce the widely anticipated Election date.

Following presentations by his Ministers and fellow candidates, Premier Parry pleaded with Nevisians to support his bid for a second term to deliver more performance for Nevis. “If you want the Aman Hotel, if you want cheaper electricity, if you want your children to go to 6th Form and University, if you want more houses in this country, if you want computers in the Community Centers, if you your roads fixed all over the country, if you want jobs all over Nevis, you are going to vote for the NRP.”

On the issues, the Hon. Joseph Parry touted his Administration’s performance in housing: over 300 affordable houses built in less than four years; in education: 170 students assisted by the Government to receive University education; new Police Stations and Barracks in Cotton Ground, Gingerland and Butlers to fight crime and; the new relationship with St. Kitts, one based on “Consultation, not Confrontation.”

“Since the Hon. Patrice Nisbett became part of the Federal Government as the Attorney General of St. Kitts - Nevis, he has been able to: get Nevis students included in the One-2-One Laptop programme; pass a Bill into Law, which now enables businesses operating in Nevis to pay their Corporate Taxes in Nevis,” stated the Premier.

The Premier’s speech climaxed with a surprise fireworks display following his announcement, “we are launching our campaign right now.”
